Resort Map with Wedding Event Locations

Jay Peak's Facebook page posted a really sweet picture of the resort, so I figured I would add some information about where everything is going to be located-- it has been confusing trying to explain everything, especially because there are two different hotels on the property!

The DO's and DON'Ts of Jay Peak According to the Bride and Groom

Nate and I headed up to Jay this weekend to finalize wedding plans and enjoy the resort.  After spending some time up there, we have put together 17 DO’s and DON’Ts (according to Kacey and Nate).

DO take advantage of the coupon book given at check-in—we took a free tram ride up to the top and enjoyed a free appetizer at dinner when we bought two entrees. (there are so many coupons in there, these are just a few)

DON’T forget your coupon book.

DO enjoy the ice cream, drink, and food service at the pool.  Our waitress Chloe was amazing and so was the cookies and cream ice cream she served us at the pool deck.  They also have Maple & Bacon ice cream.

DON’T eat the Maple & Bacon ice cream and expect to feel good about yourself if you plan to spend the whole day lounging around at the pool.

DO take advantage of the complimentary toiletries (soaps, shampoos, lotions) and caffeinated beverages (Keurig coffees and hot chocolates) in the hotel room.

DON’T expect there to be Lactaid and immodium to save you from the Maple & Bacon ice cream at the pool.

DO take the opportunity to ride the tram or hike the 4000 foot peak and enjoy a Tram Ale on draft at the Sky Haus Deli. (there is a free coupon in your book for a tram ride!)

DON’T eat the bacon wrapped hot dogs.

DO take a picture at the summit creeding (see below).

DON’T confuse creeding with Reed-ing (see below)

DO muster up enough courage to go down La Chute in the water park.  It is such a rush.  While testicles are not complimentary, we do suggest borrowing/bartering/stealing some so the slide can be enjoyed.  Just don’t expect to use Nate’s… he is getting married.

DON’T wear a bikini top, teeshirt, or necklace.

DO try your luck on the Flow Rider (see below).

DON’T be a hardo boogey boarder.

DO visit Alex at the golf Clubhouse Grill for a homemade Bloody Mary.

DON’T sit inside.  The view on the patio at the grill is the best of the resort.

DO wear sensible shoes at all times.  The terrain is what you might expect at a mountain resort in Vermont.

 DON’T wear heels.

DO visit Provisions Store and check out their beer and wine selection, which is priced comparatively to Market Basket.

DON’T buy Jay Peak merchandise here; it is a LOT cheaper at the Jay Country Store, which is located on Route 242 on your way to/from the resort.

DO take advantage of the trout-stocked fishing pong near the ceremony site.

DON’T swim in the pond—there’s a waterpark, bro.

DO take the opportunity to golf on Jay Peak’s Championship Golf Course.

DON’T keep score.  Use smiley faces and sad faces based on how you feel you did on each hole.  This isn’t your grandmother’s golf course.

DO enjoy the waterpark and all it has to offer.

DON’T open your mouth under water—everyone knows that Frenchies pee in the pool.

DO embrace your French-Canadian neighbors— they will make up more than half of the resort population.

DON’T confuse the French being spoken with drunken gibberish.

DO dress appropriately and remember a bathingsuit.

DON’T forget to bring a sweatshirt or jacket—it can get chilly at night.

DO visit Tower Bar and look for Lily.  While we were visiting Jay for the first time, she introduced us to Bloody Caesar’s—Canada’s take on a Bloody Mary made with Clamato Juice.

DON’T knock it till you’ve tried it.

DO look for Kimberly at Alice’s Table—especially on Friday where she hosts a back-country BBQ from 5:00-9:30.

DON’T pass on the s’more plate for dessert—make your own at the fire pit!

And just a few more pics from the weekend...

Weekend at Jay Peak

T-5 months until we say "I do"!  We have been super busy the last few weeks taking care of a lot of wedding stuff.  We have bridesmaids dresses, groomsmen suits, wedding rings, flowers, amazing photographers, and everyone seems to be getting excited for the big day!

Two weeks ago we spent a night in Burlington getting our engagement pictures done and we had a blast!  Our photographer, Carin is so talented and laid back and I think she and her photog partner will give off calm, sweet vibes come September 1.

We headed up to Jay Peak the next day to meet our families to show them what we fell in love with up there.  The girls headed to meet with our florist and the guys had some lunch.  Then, we checked in to our three-bedroom suite and changed in to our suits and hit up the water park!  If you are staying in the Hotel Jay in a suite-- they are HUGE!  So much space and very private.  All of the bedrooms have their own bathooms and the living area is large.  The kitchen was fully stocked with all the goodies, and each room had their own Keurig machine and free coffee.

The water park was super fun, as usual! It was definitely more crowded than when Nate and I went last summer but it is their peak season.  We rode the slides, relaxed in the river, watched the flower girl play, and tried the wave machine!  On Sunday, Nate, his father, and his sister all went snowboarding and the rest of us hit the water park again.  We hung around until 1 or so and then it was time to go to the tasting!  We got to try most of the delicious food we will be having at the wedding, and the chef has a huge personality so it was really fun.

Now... without further adieu... the only reason I look at blogs... the pictures!

Engagement Pictures!

Nate and I headed up to Burlington, VT last Friday to meet with one of our photographer's to have our engagement pictures done.  Our photographer Carin made the afternoon so fun and was so easy going that it made it did not feel awkward at all... Except for when we were makin' out on the sidewalk, holding a bunch of balloons, and getting honked at.  Actually, that was awesome (for me, not Nate).

After spending the night in Burlington, we headed up to Jay Peak to meet up with our families, have a consultation with the florist, enjoy the water park, and attend a tasting for the wedding.  Hopefully I will post on that soon!

Without further adieu... Here is a link to Two House Photo's blog-- I can't wait to work with them on our wedding day!

Flower Girl Practice

When Miss Ryann accepted the role of flower girl for our wedding, we knew she would take the responsibility very seriously.  We gave Ryann a classic Radio Flyer tricycle for her 1st birthday with a sign that said "Flower Girl in Training" in hopes that she would eventually grow in to the trike and possibly ride it at the wedding.
Ryann loves to practice riding on her trike, although her little legs are still too short so she enjoys a push around the house.
Another important task for Ryann will be shaking her tailfeathers at the reception dance party.  She has been practicing her best dance moves to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  I caught some of these on tape during my recovery.  I can't even take how adorable she is!
